Keeping things Separate

We’re well and truly into summer wedding season now, personally I’m one down, two to go and I do LOVE  a wedding, but what I don’t love, even though I’m a lover of fashion, is the worry around what to wear – the potential minefield when it comes to choosing an outfit is vast!   Let’s start with white or not to white?  Trust me when I say leave this to the Bride – unless it’s at her request.  Then do you shop in the sale or leave it to the last minute trying to avoid the thing women fear most…wearing the same outfit!  With all this in mind I’m thinking of ditching my gorgeous DVF dress I’d planned on wearing 6 months ago and opting for sexy separates instead.

Wearing a dress or jumpsuit is great as you only really need to accessorise, where as putting together an outfit made up of separates, that are also wedding appropriate and accessories, can understandably put the fear of god into anyone who finds it tough pairing anything other than jeans and a t-shirt.  Take a look at some of the super sleek, stylish and simple ways to wear wedding guest separates.

Did you spot the easiest way to do separates in that lot?  It’s to go for a coordinating print.  Co-ords have been floating around for more than a handful of seasons now, whether it’s trousers and a blouse, shorts and blazer or skirt and top.  It’s a no-brainer outfit and the final look is very effective.

I love a wide leg pant or culotte teamed with a flouncy blouse or a little cold shoulder top, comfort and style all day long, which is a must when you’re faced with  eating, drinking and a lot of dancing! The shops are fast filling up with transitional and first drops of the Autumn collections, but there is still a good selection of summer separates out there if you’re quick.  Here are a few of my high street favourites.
