Coat Edit

I hate to see and feel the warmth of summer fade away, but if there is one positive to the cooler weather making an arrival it’s got to be getting sung (and stylish) in a winter coat.

I’ve not bought a new coat for the past couple of seasons as I manage to bag a big, pink, fluffy dream in the Topshop sale that just kept giving!  Unfortunately it is pretty much on it’s last legs now and will need upgrading very soon, and as luck would have it there is a whole host of snugness out there just waiting for some shoulders to be slung on.

When it comes to buying a winter coat I most defiantly believe in buying as soon as the autumn collections hit the high street, but with the confusion as to whether the weather was hot or not, coat drops seem to have been held back slightly and are only now firmly filling the shops.  So the big question is, classic or statement?!

A winter coat can be a big and fairly expensive purchase as far as adding to our wardrobes goes, so there are a few things to considered.  Firstly, are you looking for a coat that’s going to last a lifetime?  If the answer is yes then of course you need to look for something classic, timeless and probably a little more expensive.  If no and you fancy a little fast fashion in your life then go for the bold brights, crazy textures and extra detailing, but beware, this kind of purchase may not sit with every outfit in your wardrobe. Year after year the classics get a little make-over of sorts in one way or another, so maybe this is the best mid-ground to go for if you’re looking for a coat that offers a nod to the seasons biggest trends, whilst still maintaining wearability that will see you through the majority of your everyday wardrobe.

So you don’t have to think or search too hard I’ve rounded up, and linked below, a few of my favs that are either in-store now or coming soon.  I love a parka as they work well dressed up or down, but the one that I have my eye on is the Zara hooded mac.  Let me know what you chose!
