Nailing Knitwear

Hello Friday! Although a fairly chilly, grey start this morning the sun made an appearance and hopefully bought with it those weekend vibes. And when it comes to your winter weekend wardrobe there will be one key item that’ll feature heavily over the next few months, helping to keep us stylish and warm, as well as adding a little humour to Christmas day, and that’s knitwear.

When it’s cold it outside layering is the only way, and what better way than all topped off with a chunky knit.  Whether you like fringing, pom poms or a classic cable, wool, cashmere or just whatever it comes in, there are so many wonderful ways to wear your knit.  At the moment you can still get away with just rocking out a huge knit and no jacket, this is where layering is extremely important though.  To ensure you’re not cooked alive or sweat to death though, try and wear layers of a natural material, cotton is of course be best, but just steer clear of anything polyester!

That lot just screams off duty chic!  The style set certainly know how to pair the chunky stuff with all manor of other textures, and if you fancy mixing things up from day to night there’s hints in there on how to up the knitwear ante for an evening out.  Sexy is key so try teaming with leather, chiffon and the Christmas essential, sequins.  And don’t be afraid of a colour pop too.

The high street is jam packed with beautiful knits at the moment, so I’ve narrowed in on some of my favourites for you. One final thing on knits, make sure they fit! Just because it’s chunky and oversized shouldn’t mean your shape is swamped or you double in size, think sexy and slouchy with a good dose of warmth thrown in.
