Stripes for summer, nothing new there then, but SS18 stripes are getting a make-over and becoming ‘Statement Stripes’! You may normally wear your summer stripes with a nautical or even Italian riviera vibe, but for next season it’s all about the very modern mix and match. The mix and match sees two or more stripes paired together, so you might find a vertical stripe shirt that features horizontal stripe pockets, or a mismatch of stripes on your top to the stripes on your skirt. It may sound confusing and complicated but it’s pretty easy and effective…I promise!
I know we’re getting weather warnings about the dip in temperatures again this week, so best not be too keen on ditching the winter woolies just yet, but it’s most definitely ok to be thinking ahead to next season, especially as I always find winter to spring the hardest for wardrobe transitions.
Stripes are a great trans-seasonal (fashion jargon for that weird in-between seasons bit) way to ease yourself into spring, and better still the high street is already full of them. If you’re body conscious then of course stick to figure flattering vertical stripes, the retailers know how us women think so you’ll find the majority of stripes in this way. Be bold with your colour choices, the H&M dress below is a favourite of mine that also comes in a skirt and a shirt, so on that note here’s my pick of the stripes in every stripe.
