If there is a print or pattern ‘doing bits’ (yes, I’m a Love Island addict) on the high street and driving the fash pack dotty it’s most definitely the polka dot. On a personal preference dots don’t do it for me, I’m stripes for life, but there are some seriously cool ways for you to give your wardrobe a dose of the polka dots.
When it comes to polka dot dresses there is one iconic dress forever etched on my brain, it is of course the one Julia Roberts wore in Pretty Woman, you know when she goes to the polo and gets approached by Stuckey. Over the years that dress has been reworked, revamped and copied by most high street stores, but there is something much fresher and very current about what the high street has to offer right now.
Two of the biggest brands doing dots well are Topshop and H&M. Topshop have some great polka dot, mom fit jeans, a denim jacket and skirt combo as well as swimwear, sleepwear and more. H&M are covering off the feminine, flirty styles (really well I might add) that are just perfect for those summer occasionwear worries.
Of course I’ve scoured more than just those two high giants and there are some super stylish (and spotty) bargains to be had. I have to admit, maybe this leopard can swap her stripes for spots!
