Hey there sunny September Monday, who was expecting this? Not me that’s for sure. It’s been a while since I’ve done a ‘New In’ musings and so that’s what I have for you today. There is a lot of autumn loveliness out there right now, which kind of doesn’t sit right with the wonderful warm weather we have today, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start planning and purchasing for a rainy day!
So, we all know animal print is huge for autumn/winter, but do you know what else to hunt out on the high street to help you hit those big catwalk trends?
Checks are ticking every box this season, as they do most autumn/winters, but this year the variety is vast. Big and bold, twee and tweedy or clean and minimal, however you want to check out you’ll be spoilt for choice. I love this oversized scarf from Next which they’ve styled as a cape/wrap (also huge for AW18 and probably the easiest way to update your look without splashing the cash), and this Zara button front pencil skirt would look incredible with chunky trainers until the weather turns, then add a pair of slouchy knee high boots. Speaking of knee high boots I’m in love with this M&S Collection block heel pair, just the right amount of slouch, on the right heel height, in the perfect nudey/tan for the autumn season.
When it comes to colour brown is most definitely the new black. Think (or Pinterest) top to toe 70’s vibes with a hint of your favourite biscuit! These H&M wide leg cords are nailing it for me and they also have a super cute tie collar shirt you could team with the trousers for that top to toe look. The trousers will also look great worn with a chunky knit and trainers. This bright blue Mango chunky knit commanded my attention on the ‘New In’ page and would look stunning teamed with a silky, pleated skirt.
If you like to plan your outfits well in advance head to Warehouse now where you’ll find some gorgeous pieces that would be perfect for the Christmas party season (sorry, I said the C word)! There was a tonne of sequins on the catwalk so this fringed midi skirt is right up there in the fashion stakes, and, has a top that matches. For a different take on texture leather just comes back season after season, and leather dresses marched down the runways at Miu Miu, Givenchy and Loewe. If the thought of spending your whole seasons budget on a leather dress is just out of the question then this faux leather belted number is the perfect find!
If you love accessories you’re in for a treat this season. Ear candy is bigger and better than ever, these Zara brooch style earring are a great buy at just £12.99, and when it comes to arm candy Topshop spotted something special in those tiny beaded bags from Shrimps that the fashionistas have been swing from their arm all summer, and made it into a bag that’s much more useable with this metallic beaded tote.
Anyway, enough blurb from me, let me know what you plan on buying for the new season…Here’s the good stuff.
